SatrixNOW FICA Documents Foreign Nationals

PLEASE NOTE:
In order to open an account please can you do the following:

Clients who qualify for a Satrixnow account, I am a citizen of one of the Common Monetary Area countries (Ie. Namibia, Lesotho, Swaziland

  • Certified foreign ID or valid foreign passport 
  • South African or foreign proof of address
  • South African proof of bank or foreign bank account eg Namibian Bank Account

Clients who qualify for a Satrixnow account, Living and Working in SA
  1. Certified copies of 2 different forms of identity documents (E.g., Passport, Drivers License or ID) If you have registered with either the ID OR Passport, please note the ID number must correspond with the ID's provided 
  2. Certified Work Permit (Work OR Critical Skills Permit is accepted)
  3. A letter of confirmation of your bank details or a copy of your bank statement (not older than 3 months) must reflect registered Passport OR ID number
  4. Proof of address not older than 3 months (must reflect your name and surname as per your ID documents)
  5. Proof of registration with SARS – IRP5 or another doc proving you are a registered taxpayer in South Africa

If you meet one of these requirements then please email the documents listed in the detailed instructions below, through to our New Accounts department at newaccounts@satrixnow.co.za and provided your documents are in order.

Proof of Identification

  • Submit certified copies of 2 different forms of Identity (Eg. passport AND drivers licence)

Proof of Physical Residential Address


  • Submit a certified copy of a Proof of address document - this must reflect name/initials and surname, physical address or  property descriptions (i.e. erf/stand numbers) and must be less than 3  months old. 



A list of valid FICA documents that can be used to verify physical residential address is detailed below: 
  • A utility bill, such as water, electricity or rates (less than 3 months)  We may accept a utility bill that are addressed to a post box number if  it shows your name, erf/stand number, township and suburb
  • A bank statement or financial statement from a financial institution (less than 3 months old)
  • A copy of a signed lease agreement (by both parties), (less than 1 year old)
  • A municipal rates and taxes invoice (less than 3 months old)
  • A mortgage statement from another financial institution, (less than 6 months old)
  • A telephone account, ie. a land–line or cellphone account (less than 3 months old)
  • An official tax return/tax assessment (less than 1 year old)
  • Official correspondence from the South African Revenue Services ("SARS") (less than 3 months old)
  • A recent life insurance policy issued by an insurance company
  • Correspondence from a body corporate or share–block association (less than 3 months old)
  • A valid television license document
  • A recent short–term insurance policy document or a short–term insurance renewal letter (less than 1 year old)
  • A retail account statement/invoice (less than 3 months old)
  • Where the person live in any type of residence (eg. hostel/barracks) a letter from the administration department of such residence on an official  letterhead
Proof of Bank Account
For this part you can send through one of two types of document as follows:

  1. A copy of a bank statement no older than 3 months old, that is officially stamped by the bank OR alternatively
  2. An official letter from the bank, on a bank letterhead listing details of your account, signed by the bank

Problems with Proof of Physical Address
It may be the case that you do not have one of the suitable "proof of address" documents listed above with your name on it.

This is usually the case where you may be living with another person who is the homeowner such as a spouse, parent, sibling, life-partner

In these situations, you will need to provide "Proof of Residential" address by emailing us certfied copies of the following documents:

  1. A document from the list of valid FICA documentsin the row above, less than 3 months old, reflecting:

      • The name/initials and surname of the person you live with (Ie. spouse, parent, sibling, life-partner etc.)
      • The physical address or property descriptions (i.e. erf/stand numbers)
  2. A copy of the identity document of the person you live with (Ie. spouse, parent, sibling, life-partner etc.)
  3. The Confirmation of address form - HYPERLINK - completed and signed by the person you live with (Ie. spouse, parent, sibling, life-partner etc.)


Student Accommodation
If you are a student residing at a student residence, hostel or boarding  house and are unable to provide proof from the homeowner, please send the following:

  • A written  statement from the educational institution or the residence, hostel or  boarding house (on a formal letterhead) confirming your residence at the physical address of such residence, OR
  • The attached "Confirmation of address" form, completed and signed by a representative of the educational institution, together with a proof of their identity

Satrix Managers (RF) (Pty) Ltd (Satrix) a registered and approved Manager in Collective Investment Schemes in Securities and an authorised financial services provider in terms of the FAIS. Collective investment schemes are generally medium- to long-term investments. Unit Trusts and ETFs the investor essentially owns a “proportionate share” (in proportion to the participatory interest held in the fund) of the underlying investments held by the fund. With Unit Trusts, the investor holds participatory units issued by the fund while in the case of an ETF, the participatory interest, while issued by the fund, comprises a listed security traded on the stock exchange.

ETFs are index tracking funds, registered as a Collective Investment and can be traded by any stockbroker on the stock exchange or via Investment Plans and online trading platforms. ETFs may incur additional costs due to it being listed on the JSE. Past performance is not necessarily a guide to future performance and the value of investments / units may go up or down. A schedule of fees and charges, and maximum commissions are available on the Minimum Disclosure Document or upon request from the Manager. Collective investments are traded at ruling prices and can engage in borrowing and scrip lending. Should the respective portfolio engage in scrip lending, the utility percentage and related counterparties can be viewed on the ETF Minimum Disclosure Document. The Manager does not provide any guarantee either with respect to the capital or the return of a portfolio. The index, the applicable tracking error and the portfolio performance relative to the index can be viewed on the ETF Minimum Disclosure Document and or on the Satrix website.

Performance is based on NAV to NAV calculations of the portfolio. Individual performance may differ to that of the portfolio as a result of initial fees, actual investment date, dividend withholding tax and income reinvestment date. The reinvestment of income is calculated based on actual distributed amount and factors such as payment date and reinvestment date must be considered.

*Note exchange prices are delayed in accordance with regional exchange rules.South African prices are delayed by 15 minutes; North American prices are delayed by 15 minutes.
